The need now list: 'Wayward Pines,' Amazon's first iOS games and more
This weekend, be sure to take a look at these awesome iTunes titles:
Til Morning’s Light and Lost Within, Universal games
This week, we’re highlighting the first two iOS titles from Amazon Game Studios, Til Morning’s Light ($6.99) and Lost Within ($6.99).
The first tells the story of Erica Page, “an ordinary teenage girl, just trying to fit in.” Unfortunately for Erica, she’s stuck in a haunted mansion that doesn’t want to give away its secrets.
From the developer of Prey, Lost Within also features a building that is haunted. In this case, it’s an old asylum where a legendary killer prowls. Your goal sounds simple enough: find the way out.
Two additional games are set to arrive from Amazon on the App Store later this year: Tales From Deep Space and To-Fu Fury.
“Wayward Pines,” TV series
I’ve been waiting patiently for the arrival of this limited series, which is based on the popular Wayward Pines book trilogy by Blake Crouch. After watching the first two episodes, I’m firmly onboard.
The 10-part series stars Matt Dillon as Ethan Burke, a Secret Service agent who is sent to Wayward Pines, Idaho to find two federal agents who have gone missing. Think of “Wayward Pines” as “Lost,” “Under the Dome,” and “Twilight Zone” all rolled into one.
“Wayward Pines” is available through the Fox Now and Hulu Plus apps.
Living Earth, Universal app
First introduced in 2011, Living Earth – Clock & Weather ($0.99) now offers support for Apple Watch.
As Brent Dirks recently noted:
Easily my favorite feature is the new Glance that shows live clouds, a map, and weather conditions at your selected location. The new color-coded temperature and forecasts of favorite cities also looks great.
Notifications on the watch are even dynamic. A tropical cyclone will update with the latest satellite imagery. Users can also swipe between the different features and tap on a selected day or city to see current detailed weather conditions and the forecast.
Lumy, Universal app
Professional photographers already know about the golden hour, which is the time around sunrise and sunset. This magic hour provides the softest, warmest light for taking photos. Lumy ($1.99) helps you be ready when that perfect time of day approaches. The app now offers support on Apple Watch.
Caviar, iPhone app
With Caviar (free), food deliveries from your favorite local restaurants are just a few clicks away. Caviar currently offers delivery in Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Portland, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Washington DC.
“The Need Now List” is published each Friday at AppAdvice.
