Apple Watch soon to arrive in stores and more countries
Shipping times of some Apple Watch models may still be two to three weeks, but that isn’t stopping Cupertino from expanding sales of the wearable device. Apple announced on Thursday that the smartwatch will be available to purchase in retail stores on June 26. That same day, availability of Apple Watch will expand to include Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
In addition to Apple retail stores and authorized resellers, Cupertino will also expand the network of boutique stores carrying the wearable device. A “curated selection” of Apple Watch models will be available at 10 Corso Corso in Milan, Boontheshop Cheongdam in Seoul, and Malmaison by The Hour Glass in Singapore.
Jeff Williams, Apple’s senior vice president of operations, discussed both the response to Cupertino’s latest product launch and the shipping delays still seen with some models of the device:
The response to Apple Watch has surpassed our expectations in every way, and we are thrilled to bring it to more customers around the world. We’re also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders, and we thank our customers for their patience. All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks. At that time, we’ll also begin selling some models in our Apple Retail Stores.
Many models of Apple Watch are already shipping in as little as five days, lending some credence to Cupertino’s claim that the backlog of orders and slow shipping times are soon to be a thing of the past. I just hope that Apple doesn’t overextend themselves with the additional pressure of supplying products to retail stores and additional countries at the same time.
