Send large batches of photos to anyone with BitTorrent Shoot
If you’ve ever tried to send a big batch of photos to someone with an Android or Windows Phone device, you know what a challenge it is. The same goes if you want to send a long video. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t. That’s where BitTorrent Shoot comes in, because the app was developed with just this use in mind.
Shoot is based on BitTorrent Sync technology, letting you send photos or videos directly between mobile devices no matter what device you use or what network you’re on. Even better, the files move directly from you to the person you’re sending to without ever touching the cloud. Everything is fully private between you and your recipient.
You can send as many photos or videos as you want, but the people on the other end do need to have the Shoot app on their device. BitTorrent Shoot is available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, so it’s easy to share with your friends or family members.
The downside to BitTorrent Shoot is that you have to be physically with the people you want to send to. They have to scan a QR code to start the file transfer. This is great if you’re at a concert or some other event and want to share photos with the folks around you, but won’t help you send baby pictures across the country to your mother.
BitTorrent Shoot is available for free on the App Store, and is compatible with iOS 8.0 or later on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Your first three sends are free, and a $1.99 in-app purchase after that enables unlimited sending. Receiving items is always free, though.
