Today’s apps gone free: Slingshot Racing, Newton, Zippy and more
iPhone:
When creating a new task, you’re able to describe it, tag it, and set a reminder. All of your tasks will be sorted automatically by priority level, and you can quickly reschedule them with a single tap. You’re also able to create custom tags and sort tasks by those tags. Where Zippy differs from similar productivity apps is with its thoughtful insights. As you use the app more and more, you’ll be able to analyze your habits through an infographic and get better at getting things done.
Zippy – Tasks and Reminders is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 7 ratings.

Equalizer Pro has it all. It taps in to your local music library in order to allow you to play your favorite songs and create playlists on the fly. You’re also able to discover new free music from SoundCloud and Jamendo. While the music is playing you can pull up a visualizer, set a sleep timer, and adjust an equalizer that features 20 different presets. The app also includes AirPlay support, a ringtone creator, and the ability to control your music via gestures.

Newton is rather simple yet surprisingly addictive. It includes three game modes, two of which will pit you against the clock. The first competitive mode has you trying to correctly and continuously solve addition and subtraction problems in under four seconds. The second has you trying to correctly solve as many problems as you can in two minutes. Both competitive modes allow you to compete with your friends, and you’ll be notified if your score is beaten.
Newton – Add and Subtract is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 7 ratings.
You’ve never played a racing game like this before. Slingshot Racing doesn’t put you in direct control of your vehicle. Instead, all you’re armed with is a grappling hook that can latch on to towers. You must fire your grappling hook at just the right time to slingshot your vehicle around the corners. The first set of tutorial tracks will help you get used to this unique mechanic, so make sure to hone your skills before taking on the more challenging ones. The game includes 80 races in career mode, local and online multiplayer, and iCloud support.
Slingshot Racing is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 3091 ratings.
iPad:
No matter how big or small the idea, Dream-X will help you realize it in visual form. You’re able to choose from two different themes and then get right to your mind mapping. Start off with a single idea and then branch out from there. You’re able to create new branches by selecting the idea you want them to branch off from and then tapping and holding on a spot on the screen. Each branched off idea can be color coded, include photo and message, include a task or subtask, and sport an icon. You’re able to freely rearrange your ideas just by dragging them around the canvas. You’re also able to export your mind maps and share them via email. The app includes tutorial videos and samples to help you get started.
