Whether you’re at the beach or pool, or just out backpacking, you want to take your tunes with you. Ultimate Ears has unveiled a new way for your music to tag along with you in the shape of UE Roll, a small saucer-shaped Bluetooth speaker that puts out sound in all directions. With a 2-inch driver and two 3/4-inch tweeters, the pint-sized UE Roll brings 85 dBA of sound to hidden beaches, cliff jumps, and mountain climbs.

The speaker features a waterproof shell that is IPX7 certified. That means the speaker can handle incidental exposure of water of up to one meter for as long as 30 minutes. This makes UE Roll suitable for indoor or outdoor use when it’s raining or snowing, or when there might be brief splashes of water. While you can take UE Roll for a dunk, you shouldn’t immerse it deeper than a meter or for longer than 30 minutes. The shell is also dirt-proof and stain-proof, so you can get it muddy and then just rinse it off.

Ultimate Ears has included a strap and go bungee cord with the UE Roll. This allows you to clip the Roll onto your backpack or swimsuit, so the speaker goes with you without tying up your hands. The speaker features a Bluetooth range of 65 feet and battery life of up to nine hours.

The UE Roll app will allow you to remotely turn your speaker on or off. You can also use the UE Roll as an alarm clock, sending your favorite music from Spotify, Pandora, or anything else to the speaker when it’s time to get up. The app will also allow you to update your speaker, and Ultimate Ears says there will be new features and tricks coming out soon.

UE Roll is available for purchase now from the Ultimate Ears website at a price of $99.99. The UE Roll app is not yet available for download on the App Store, unfortunately.
