Angry Birds 2 slingshots to the App Store on July 30
Rovio’s hit game Angry Birds has been hurtling itself at fans since 2009, and the game developer has brought many spinoffs and movie tie-ins to the App Store. We’ve seen enraged birds in Rio, upset avians in Star Wars, feathered Transformers, misbehaving pigs, and more. There are even Angry Birds behind the wheel in a racing game. What we haven’t seen, though, is a proper sequel to the game that started the craze of flinging birds at walls and blocks. That’s all about to change.
The long-awaited sequel
In a blog post, Rovio announced that they’ve had more than three billion game downloads since 2009, and they’re “proud to announce the mother of all sequels – Angry Birds 2.” While they haven’t explicitly announced which platforms the sequel will be available on, the blog post says that “Angry Birds 2 flocks into app stores worldwide on July 30.” One would assume that means the iOS App Store will be included in the initial launch (pun intended).
Keep up with the updates
Rovio has given us multiple ways to keep up with the developments in the new title. The game development firm is encouraging fans to follow Angry Birds on multiple social media platforms to see that “something a little piggy is going on.”
It’s great to see Angry Birds finally getting a proper sequel. I’ve been a huge fan of the franchise since the early days, and I’m excited to see what Rovio has hidden in its wing feathers for this latest release. AppAdvice will continue to follow the story and fill you in on more details as they develop.
