You’ve got something to put on Craigslist, but you don’t want to share your email address or phone number on the listing. You could set up a throwaway email, but that’s way too much trouble. How can you get in touch with potential buyers but still keep your privacy? Thanks to the latest update to Dasher Messenger, you have a terrific option.
Already a great app
Dasher Messenger lets you connect with friends, and even strangers, worldwide for free. It utilizes your GPS to share your location in real time as you head out to meet with someone. It also makes a great way to send and receive money, using Venmo. It works on any computer with an Internet connection, as well as your iOS device, and your account follows you to any device you log in from.
Now with custom usernames
You used to sign up with your phone number on Dasher Messenger, and people would search for you by that or by your email address. With the latest update, though, you can choose your own username. Once you’ve done that, you can log in or search for others by username. This is a great way to set up an account that you can use for connecting with buyers and sellers on Craigslist without giving away your email address or phone number.
I loved Dasher Messenger even before the update, since it was so handy for letting my friends know where we were meeting. Now, though, it’s so much more useful because it not only allows me to share my location for a meet-up, but the new custom username feature makes it my new go-to option when I’m selling something on my local Craigslist site.
Dasher Messenger is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is available for free on the App Store. There are no in-app purchases or ads.
