Today’s apps gone free: Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy, Turnplay, QuickClip and more
Universal:
We really like this app because of its simplicity. You’re presented with a list of nine different calculators, allowing you to find time differences, calculate work days, add and subtract time, multiple and divide time, convert time, find a date range, convert time zones, calculate age, and calculate time travel. The results from each can be shared via AirDrop, Messages, Twitter, Facebook, and email.
Date & Time Calculator (9 in 1) is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 574 ratings.
All you need to know is that the colorful mushrooms point towards the sky and the darkness below is where you’re headed. Tilt to navigate your way through the darkness, and listen as your interactions with the environment create the background music. The game includes three modes, and leaderboards via Game Center.
Melodive is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 305 ratings.
QuickClip allows you to keep a running log of every single piece of text you clip. All you have to do is launch the app and allow it run in the background. Clipped text will be saved automatically, and you can edit each entry at any time. The app also includes a Today widget, which allows you to copy already clipped text in a snap.
Clipboard Manager QuickClip is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 8 ratings.
iPad:
This is one exquisitely crafted digital book. It explains Leonardo’s anatomical investigations through 11 story chapters written by Martin Clayton, the Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings at Windsor Castle. As you learn the history, you can explore all 268 of Leonardo’s drawings in high resolution. The app also includes 3-D anatomical models that carefully match to Leonardo’s illustrations.
Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 94 ratings.
Turnplay is a purist’s dream come true. You must first import songs from your library in order to allow Turnplay to morph them into virtual vinyl records. You’re then able to shuffle or set them up in a queue, play them back at difference speeds, and, of course, scratch away to create your own sound. Just like a real turntable, Turnplay allows you to drag the arm anywhere on the record to start playing music from that point on. The app includes two playback speeds, pitch control, and perfectly rendered album art.
Turnplay – The #1 vinyl record player for iPad is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 192 ratings.
Developers:
If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
- It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
- The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
- The free version of your app must not include ads.
To submit an app, simply send a request to tyler@appadvice.com with the subject “Apps Gone Free.” Please include the name of the app, a link to it in the App Store, when and for how long you intend to offer the app for free, and anything else you would like to share. We will take it from there.
