Your fungi battle to the death in Mushroom Wars: Space!
Who thought mushrooms could be so much fun? Ignoring that old pun about a mushroom being a “fun guy, (fungi)” there’s one way to put a truly unique spin on real time strategy games. Make the stars of the game sentient, alien mushrooms. That’s exactly what you get in Mushroom Wars: Space, which has just received its first feature packed update. The update makes a fun game even better.
Improvements for both solo play and multiplayer action
You now have an upgradable ship that travels through space, carrying your mushroom army. As you earn stars by completing missions, you can get rewards like in-game currency, boosters, and ship upgrades. For the play versus everyone missions, there are new battle assist abilities to help you out when you run into trouble with one of the levels.
Revamped multiplayer mode
Zillion Whales, the team behind Mushroom Wars: Space, has added new maps for multifungal mode. There are also new player abilities, new battle mechanics, and social features. You can play against your Facebook friends, send them gifts, or see how they’re progressing through the game. You can even join forces with your friends from Facebook for pact matches, massive multiplayer battles.
Good graphics and sound
The graphics are cute, and the gameplay is fun and challenging. The only problems I have are that you have to complete a certain number of solo missions before you can get into multiplayer mode, and the game makes a lot of noise. Every time one of your mushroom villages is ready to upgrade, there is a ding. This can turn into a real cacophony of sound if you have a lot of villages.
Final word on the game
I’m glad I found Mushroom Wars: Space. It’s a fun game, even with the minor issues I have with it. The update makes it even more fun than before, giving you a lot more control over your battle tactics. Furthermore, just the thought of mushroom cities battling each other makes me chuckle.
Mushroom Wars: Space is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 5.1.1 or later. The game is free to download on the App Store, with in-app purchases for boosters and other advantages over your opponents.
