Crossy Road has become a mobile gaming phenomenon, with more than 90 million players joining the ranks since the app launched in November 2014. Considering how successful the Angry Birds franchise has been outside of its games, this comes as no surprise: Crossy Road has launched its own official online store. The new Web page offers fans around the world the first and only place to purchase official Crossy Road merchandise.
Currently, the site hosts a range of officially licensed clothing for adults and children, and will soon add gifts and accessories to its product offerings. All of the merchandise features characters from the game. Andy Sum, one of the creators behind Crossy Road, said, “We’ve had a lot of requests for Crossy Road t-shirts and clothing and now we’re excited to bring this range to all our players.”
Given the game’s international player base, Crossy Road is handling its new online store quite smartly. The website has launched in several languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German. Soon to follow will be translations in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. The site offers free shipping to more than 190 countries around the world, and accepts 13 different currencies.
I’m not among the many fans of Crossy Road, but I’ll be happy to see a bit more variety in video game-inspired clothing in public. Hopefully, Crossy Road succeeds in their franchising efforts and more merchandise appears.
To get your official Crossy Road merchandise, just visit the online store. The Crossy Road game is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is available for free on the App Store. There are, of course, in-app purchases to support the title.
