MyFord Mobile adds Apple Watch support for 3 models
The MyFord Mobile app was released a couple of years ago, 2013 to be exact, and received a nice update recently. Apple Watch wearers who use the app can now take that convenient remote control of their vehicle to their wrist.
Available models and watch features
The new app version only supports three Ford models for now: Ford C-Max Energi, Fusion Energi Plug-in Hybrids, and Focus Electric vehicles that have embedded modems. Now from your wrist, you can check your electric vehicle’s battery range, plug status, start your car, and lock the doors. You can even get directions to where you parked and use the Station Finder map.
MyFord Mobile basic app features
If you are unfamiliar with the app and just so happen to be a new owner one of those vehicle models, you would probably enjoy the handy features:
- Check the current charge status and fuel level
- Begin charging
- Set the vehicle cabin temperature
- Review Value Charge profiles
- Locate charging stations
- Use remote vehicle controls
Handy update
Taking the MyFord Mobile app to Apple Watch just makes sense. The convenience of the app for owners of those vehicle models was already a great perk. But, now they will have even more control and useful features right from their wrist.
MyFord Mobile is available for free at the time of vehicle purchase and then a fee applies after the initial five-year subscription expires. You can check out MyFord Mobile for iPhone and Apple Watch on the App Store.
In other news this week, Three new products from iDevices will offer support for Apple’s HomeKit and AgileBits’ 1Password updated with iOS 9 and Apple Watch improvements.
