Review: House of Marley Get Together

September 22, 2015

Bluetooth speakers come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, from devices the size of a water bottle or smaller to monstrous behemoths powerful enough to blow the doors off a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Somewhere in the middle, you’ll find House of Marley’s Get Together, a Bluetooth portable audio system crafted from bamboo wood and “Rewind” fabric using a mixture of hemp, organic cotton, and recycled plastic bottles.

The Facts

  • Company Name: House of Marley
  • Product Name: Get Together
  • Price: $199.99 ($179.99 from Amazon)

The Basics

The House of Marley Get Together is a beautiful device, with wonderful sound. It’s fully Bluetooth compatible, but it also has a convenient 3.5 mm input for other devices. With a built-in rechargeable battery, you can take the Get Together anywhere you want your sound to go and let it blast your tunes for hours on a single charge.

The Get Together features 3.5-inch high output woofers and one-inch tweeters to provide you with crisp, clear sound across all the ranges. The sound is smooth and powerful, with a tremendous high-end and precise mid-range acoustics.

Integration With iOS Devices

Connecting to the Get Together is simple, since the device supports Bluetooth. I was able to pair with my iPhone in seconds, and have room-filling Apple Music goodness blasting forth while I worked. The portability of the speaker means I can take it where I want, and the power is enough to give good sound even outdoors. Connected to your iPhone, you can even use the Get Together as a speakerphone.

Use and Feel

This Bluetooth speaker is easy to use, with top-mounted controls that are large and easy to access. The battery lasts for so many hours that I lost count, and the beautiful appearance of the speaker gives no hint to how sustainable the materials are. With its bamboo wood construction and Rewind fabric cover, though, the House of Marley Get Together is ecologically friendly.

What’s Hot

  • Awesome sound bursts forth from this medium-sized speaker.
  • You can connect to hundreds of devices, using either Bluetooth or the 3.5 mm input.
  • It looks stunningly beautiful.

What’s Not

  • The speaker powers off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity.
  • No remote control is included or compatible.
  • At $199.99, it’s a bit pricey.

How Does It Stack Up?

I’ve used a number of Bluetooth speakers in the past, and the Get Together is my favorite. The sound is amazing, and it looks fantastic. I just wish it was available in a darker finish, since most of my home decor leans towards black or at least very dark wood stain. I also wish it waited a bit longer before automatically turning off or included a remote control, since sometimes I have to switch my music off for a while and hate having to get up to turn the speaker back on.

Where Can You Get It, and How Much Does It Cost?

You can purchase the Get Together from Amazon for $179.99, and it’s eligible for Prime shipping.
