The Weather Channel brings complications to Apple Watch
Update: AppAdvice has just learned that there will be a delay in the release of watchOS 2. This will obviously affect the updates expected today, Sept. 16, for many apps that were set to release new features based on the Apple Watch update. Apparently Apple has pulled back the much-anticipated release of watchOS 2 for now. Check out what AppAdvice’s Jeff Byrnes wrote about the announcement from Apple.
As originally written: If your preferred source for forecasts and current conditions is The Weather Channel app, things are about to get a whole lot better. The app is receiving a major update today, Sept. 16, for Apple Watch wearers to go along with the release of watchOS 2.
What’s new
With a revamped interface and using animations, The Weather Channel app on your wrist will include some terrific features.
- A home screen with an hourly forecast
- A weekend screen displaying morning and night forecasts for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Complications allowing you to see the chances of rain for 48 hours
- Sun and moon details including sunrise and sunset times during the day and the phase of the moon at night
The Weather Channel provides useful and convenient features for all your weather needs.
- Forecasts for the hour, next 10 days or weekend
- Current conditions including humidity and wind speed
- Weather maps with past and future radar
- Severe weather, rain, lightning, pollen, and breaking news alerts
This is sure to be a great update for Apple Watch wearers who are fans of The Weather Channel app. Taking advantage of using Complications will likely become essential for a weather app on your wrist, so I am excited to take a look.
