Travel easier and smarter with the latest updates to Mapquest

The World Around You
October 23, 2015

When you’re traveling, you want to make your trip as simple as possible. You don’t want to have to switch apps to find multiple ways to get where you’re going, like using Uber, car2go, or local transit options. You also don’t want to have to worry about what to do when your car breaks down. Thanks to a recent update to Mapquest, those planning tasks and worries are a thing of the past.

Using the Compare tool

With the latest update, when you are choosing to get directions in Mapquest, there is now a Compare option available. This shows you alternate routes for driving or walking, but it does much more than that. If there are local transit options in your area, Mapquest’s Compare tool will show them to you. Where available, it will even give you the estimated wait time for Uber, and let you book your ride.

Did your car just break down on you?

If so, Mapquest has you covered. Through partnerships with Urgently and Uber, you can order roadside assistance. Then, so you aren’t left stranded, you can book an Uber to get you back home. All of it happens directly through the app, so you don’t have to bounce back and forth between multiple programs.

Keep up with the weather

If you want to stay ahead of the storms, Mapquest now offers local weather forecasts. You can decide whether you’re going to walk, bike, drive, or take local transit based on weather conditions, all from within the same app.
