Trying its hand at the mobile ordering game, Dunkin’ Donuts has launched an app for those living in the Portland, Maine area. Released yesterday, Nov. 17, DD On-the-Go Ordering Portland lets DD Perks members get existing features from the original Dunkin’ Donuts app along with the ability to order ahead.
After linking your DD Card account, you can take a look at the menu, customize your order, make your payment, and tap to have everything ready when you arrive at a Dunkin’ Donuts location There is a Check In feature available so that a few minutes before you get there you can let the store know you are on the way. This means, yep, you get to skip the line because your order will be waiting for you.
Orders can be placed up to 24 hours in advance, which makes it convenient to pick up your breakfast on the way to work or school in the morning. You can also save your favorites and then reorder quickly. DD On-the-Go Ordering Portland also lets you redeem DD Perks rewards.
As stated on the app’s description, skipping the line may not be available at every location and mobile payments are only accepted at participating stores. Additionally, on-the-go ordering is a DD Member exclusive feature, but you can enroll for free within the app.
Hope it expands
Moving into mobile ordering territory is a smart move for Dunkin’ Donuts and puts them in heavier competition with Starbucks. Having that ready-when-you-arrive experience is extremely appealing in the busy times we live in now. For those heading to work or school in the morning or trying to grab an afternoon snack and cup of coffee, it’s perfect. If all goes well in Portland, Maine, hopefully we will see more Dunkin’ Donuts locations added.
