See only the tweets you want with Birdy – Widget for Twitter
How many users do you follow on Twitter? And of those, how many tweets do you really want to see on a regular basis? Do you scroll and scroll to get to posts from your favorite people or companies? Or, maybe you use the list feature? Birdy – Widget for Twitter is a new app that doesn’t just show the latest tweets from your feed, but shows those from users you select, making it easy to always see the posts you want.
Setting up Birdy
To set up the Birdy Today Widget, just log into the app with your Twitter account and then search for the users you want to see. You can pick five total and will need to use the search feature of the app rather than choosing from a list of those you follow. In the app settings, you can choose to have a tweet you tap open in your Twitter app rather than Safari. Then, add the widget to your notification center and you are set.
Using Birdy
Once you have Birdy in your notification center, you can hold down on a tweet to mark it as a favorite or retweet it. You can also tap it to open it in either Safari or your Twitter app, depending on how you set it up.
Overall thoughts
The concept behind Birdy is a good one because just seeing the most recent tweets in your feed is not always what you want. You may want to stay up on the latest from CNN or even your best friend, so the idea is great. I was a little disappointed in the method used to search for users; I was expecting to see a list of those I follow with a filter or search within that list. But, for those I did search for, I received the correct results.
Birdy – Widget for Twitter is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It is available on the App Store for $1.99.
