Microsoft Cortana has landed on an iPhone near you
Microsoft’s answer to Siri has finally arrived on iOS. The personal digital assistant, Cortana, is now available on the App Store to allow your Windows 10 PC and iPhone to work more closely together. The feature-rich digital assistant provides you with plenty of options to help you get things done.
Location and time reminders between the PC and phone
By setting location-based reminders on one device, you can make sure you don’t forget to pick up milk when you’re at the store. Just set a reminder on your PC for what you need to get the next time you’re near the grocery store, and Cortana will remind you on your iPhone the next time you are at that location.
Track everything from stocks and scores to packages and flights
Cortana, on both your PC and your iPhone, can help you make sure you don’t miss a thing. You can have her let you know when a delivery is scheduled, give you daily updates on the stock market, keep up with whether your flight to see Grandma for Christmas is delayed, and even give you the latest information on your favorite hockey team.
A great assistant, but it has its limitations
While the Cortana app on Cyanogen OS can respond to voice requests like, “Hey Cortana,” you won’t find that option on iOS (or on normal Android phones, for that matter). For folks who use Windows 10 PCs, the deep integration with the desktop operating system will more than make up for the inconvenience of having to manually activate the app.
Getting Cortana on your iPhone
You can download Cortana for free on the App Store now. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 8 or later.
