Password app 1Password gets 3D Touch support and more

January 11, 2016

If you’re a 1Password user on an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, the latest update to the app brings great new 3D Touch features for you. There are also security and functionality enhancements for all users, but let’s look at the 3D Touch features first.

Quick actions, Peek, and Pop

The latest version of 1Password for iOS, 6.2, adds 3D Touch quick actions from your Home screen. You can search for items, jump to your favorite passwords, or create new entries. Once you’ve opened the app, 3D Touch lets you preview your items and swipe up to get to functions like copying usernames and passwords, or opening the 1Browser to access pages.

A new Watchtower to keep you informed

The optional Watchtower service has been available for some time in the Mac version of 1Password, and it’s now arrived on iOS. Watchtower monitors your saved websites for security vulnerabilities, and alerts you when one or more of your own accounts might need attention. You can turn it on by going to Settings > Security and toggling the feature on.

Stay organized even with multiple vaults

If you have multiple vaults or use 1Password for Teams, the latest update makes it easy to copy or move items between them. All you have to do is view the item’s details, then tap “Move and Copy” to quickly and easily transfer your account information from one vault to another.

Getting 1Password

The 1Password app is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and is a free download on the App Store. A $9.99 in-app purchase unlocks the professional features, and there are no ads to deal with. You do need to have iOS 9 or later to run the newest version of 1Password.
