Polyblast now brings you retro arcade action and more
One of my favorite casual arcade-style games just got overhauled, and the changes should make fans of retro-arcade aesthetics very happy. Polyblast, a game similar to the classic Space Invaders title, has a new look and quite a bit more.
New Seasons selection
The last time we wrote about Polyblast, it was during the Christmas season when the game got some candy cane and other holiday symbols intertwined within its levels. The developers behind Polyblast are making it clear that more seasonal updates are in the pipeline, with a brand new selection screen for the existing and upcoming themed updates.
A whole new look
Polyblast has been redesigned from the ground up to make it look more retro, hailing back even stronger to the game’s origins in classic arcade titles. The gameplay is the same, and is just as addictive, but now the title feels more like the old Atari days than ever before.
New power-ups and a Recharge pack
The most difficult part of Polyblast was running out of missiles in your silos. Not only has the game been given more power-ups with insane effects, but a brand new Recharge pack is now available periodically to replenish your ammunition when you need it most.
Track your performance with a new starring system
This huge update also brings a new way to see how well you’re performing in each level. A new system of stars helps you understand how well (or how poorly) you performed in each stage of the game.
Getting Polyblast
Polyblast is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 5.1.1 or later. The game is free on the App Store without any advertisements, but there are opporunities to spend real money via in-app purchase to unlock level packs early.
