Spotify video is coming with Comedy Central, ESPN and more
The wildly popular Spotify Music app is staying true to the plan from a May 2015 press release announcing video distribution. According to an article on The Wall Street Journal today, Jan. 25, iOS users will begin seeing this update by the end of next week. While content will be available to Android users this week, the news is still awesome for those fans of the iOS app.
Here is what Spotify stated regarding this news last year:
Get ready for a great lineupFor the first time, Spotify is adding video clips and audio shows to the music mix. We know there are times in the day you want to switch between music to catch up on the latest news, listen to your favourite podcast or simply watch something fun. And with a stellar range of entertainment to choose from there’s something for everyone. Spotify will suggest video and audio shows for you to watch and learn what you love.
Providers for content on Spotify are expected to include Comedy Central, ESPN, BBC, Maker Studios, and others. The content will consist mainly of short clips, however, there are also plans for Spotify Originals and exclusive content. So, after the many months Spotify spent preparing and testing, you can look forward to the update next week.
If you have not checked out Spotify Music for terrific tunes yet, the app is designed for both iPhone and iPad and compatible with iPod touch. You can start listening for free and then upgrade to Spotify Premium with prices ranging depending on your region, with the U.S. price at $12.99.
