The Zand by iQunix looks, feels and works great

January 12, 2016

There are plenty of times when it’s nice to have a stand for your iPhone or iPad. Reading or watching videos are two of the most obvious occasions. On top of those, though, any time you’re doing prolonged work on your device, like when drawing, it’s just more comfortable. Sure, some cases offer kickstand functionality, but a beautifully designed stand can fit the bill much better. Let’s take a look at Zand by iQunix, and see how it fares.

The Facts

  • Company Name: iQunix
  • Product Name: Zand
  • Price: $29.99
  • Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, iPad Pro
  • Website: Zand via BillyCart
  • Date Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2016

The Basics

This stand looks basic, but it’s really not. It is beautiful brushed aluminum, and utilizes nanosuction technology on the main surface to keep a tight grip on your iPhone or iPad. The only drawback to this method of attaching your device is that if you use a textured case, it may not stick securely to the stand. The bare metal back of the iPhone or iPad, however, adheres perfectly to the stand.

For those times when you want a smaller angle for your device, you can flip the stand on its back. Your iPhone or iPad fits nicely, like in a little seat, providing the perfect angle for drawing or typing on your device.

Integration With iOS Devices

The Zand works perfectly with my iPhone and with the iPad Air, but I haven’t tested it with an iPad Pro. The nanosuction surface may not be strong enough to hold up the additional weight of the larger tablet, so I’d suggest testing it yourself or using the alternative angle position.

Use and Feel

Zand is beautifully simple, and looks right at home next to an iMac. It also appears like a second skin for an iPhone or iPad, letting the accessory just blend right in with the aesthetic that Apple has popularized.

As previously stated, Zand suits its purpose fine, holding your iOS device securely. The only drawback, one that any accessory using nanosuction technology shares, is that the stand’s adhesive surface attracts dust like you wouldn’t believe. Fortunately, a simple rinse of water clears that right off, and iQunix has engineered the durability to withstand more than a thousand such rinses without any problems.

What’s Hot

  • Looks right at home among your Apple devices
  • Securely holds your iPhone or iPad
  • Incorporates two viewing angles depending on your needs

What’s Not

  • Nanosuction surface attracts dust
  • Cannot securely grip textured cases
  • May not be adhesive enough for the iPad Pro

How Does It Stack Up?

The Zand by iQunix is one of the most gorgeous stands I’ve seen, and it works quite well in holding your device at an optimal viewing angle. The incorporation of two different positions makes this a multifunctional stand, equally useful for reading or watching videos as well as for typing or drawing.

Where Can You Get It, and How Much Does It Cost?

You can purchase the iQunix Zand from the manufacturer’s BillyCart page for $29.99, or from Amazon for $39.99 with Prime shipping.
