Today’s apps gone free: HoPiKo, OLO, Monster Math 2 and more
Universal:
This interactive storybook tells the tale of “Little Red Riding Hood” entirely through animation and music. You won’t find any text or narration here. This way kids and parents can fill in the details in their own way. The app includes 12 richly illustrated interactive scenes, sound effects, and engaging tunes.
Lil’ Red – An Interactive Story is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 77 ratings.

Maxx’s friend Dextra has been kidnapped by evil monsters. Your child must help him explore new worlds, battle enemies, and find allies in order to get her back by solving math problems. The app’s intelligent math trainer system automatically adjusts the difficulty depending on your child’s ability, and the disembodied voice will ensure they’re always aware of the task at hand.
Monster Math 2 – Educational Math Games for Kids is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 36 ratings.
OLO is multiplayer gaming perfection thanks to its slick graphics and silky smooth gameplay. Your goal is to get as many of your own OLOs as possible into the target zone on the opposite side of the screen by sliding them into place. If you miss the target zone, your opponent is able to use your OLO as their own. You can also strategically bounce your own or your opponent’s already used OLOs into and through target zones. The game includes local two- and four-player multiplayer options, online multiplayer, voice chat, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center.
OLO game is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 3443 ratings.
The basic goal of the game is to match three or more of the same colored blocks by sliding them up, down, left, or right. When you swipe, all of the blocks on the screen will move in one direction until they stop. As you progress, special four and five blocks will appear, requiring you to make larger matches. If you’re able to, you’ll be rewarded with special bomb and diamond blocks that will help you clear the board. The game includes full stat tracking, light and dark themes, six color schemes, two original songs, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center.
SideSwype is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 61 ratings.
HoPiKo is fast and brutal, which is what makes it so much fun. The object of the game is to leap from platform to platform while avoiding obstacles in order to smash the Nanobyte virus to bits at the end. Each stage has five separate sections, and if you fail one, you must start from the beginning. Additionally, you can take it slow going from platform to platform, but you’ll never achieve a perfect rating. The unique touch screen controls make perfecting each level all the more satisfying.
HoPiKo is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 105 ratings.
