The Particles provides interactive stimulation for the mind. The app will help you discover the five families of subatomic particles: Leptons, Quarks, Bosons, Mesons, and Baryons. From there you can select individual particles. Each particle has a biography page that includes loads of images from particle detectors, explanations on behavior and observation, and detailed information regarding everything from mass and lifetime to decay paths and spin.

Pencil-In is here to improve your daily life. It launches directly to a camera capture view, and all you have to do is take a photo of what you want to scan. The app will analyze the photo and pull necessary information including dates, which then can be used to create a new calendar entry, contact, or note. Scans can be manually edited as well before being entered.

Funnel provides an overview of what’s happening all around the world. You’re able to choose from seven news sources including BBC, NPR, VOA, and CBC. Funnel will then provide you with hourly audio news summaries that can be played in the background. The app is also able to send notifications when new content is available.

Basic Calc’s interface is free of distractions and unnecessary functions. Its large keypad area provides ample room for you to make calculations. Basic Calc displays your formulas as they’re crafted, and retains the information in history. On iPhone, swipe down to access history. On iPad, the history will be prominently displayed down the side of the screen. Calculation history can be edited and copied as well.
