Roguelike games provide a permadeath mechanic, or in other words, start from the beginning when you die. The dungeon crawler idea is maintained as you descend through dungeons to try to reach the exit point. The roguelike set up is the main differentiator as you try to learn from mistakes to make it further in each run.
