Angry Birds is a class act: it's spawned sequels on the App Store (and elsewhere), a TV show, a movie, and a whole load of merchandise. But at the core of this phenomenon is an iOS game that's a heck of a lot of fun to play. Once you start, it'll be difficult for you to put Angry Birds down.

Pop those piggies. Your goal in each level of Angry Birds is to destroy all of the bad piggies by hurling the titular furious fowl. Never mind the collateral damage.

Boomerang birdies. Angry Birds features different feathered fiends with special abilities, including ones that follow certain trajectories as through they were boomerangs.

Bombs away. There are also birds that drop bombs to inflict damage on the pigs and their fortresses. There lots more bird types to play with, not least the omnipotent Mighty Eagle.

What is it about?

The aim of the game is simple. Evil Pigs abound, and it's up to you (and your team of Angry Birds) to destroy their various defenses as efficiently as possible through slingshotting bird after bird. Aim carefully, add just the right amount of tension to the sling, and your shot should prove successful.
