Beam & Joist Span Calculator

This app will calculate the approximate maximum span of a beam, joist, etc. with a symmetric cross section based on the following inputs (Most are automatically entered using the picker views):
- Height
- Width
- Point Dead Load Applied at Centre
- Dead Distributed Load
- Point Live Load Applied at Centre
- Live Distributed Load
- Maximum Stress
- Modulus of Elasticity
- Live Load Deflection Limit (Fraction of Span)
- Total Load Deflection Limit (Fraction of Span)

This app operates in U.S. units by default although there is a setting to use metric units (picker views always display in imperial but will enter metric values if the app is set to metric).

This app has an option for a light or dark appearance.

This app makes several assumptions and approximations and neglects multiple factors that are necessary to consider including but not limited to neglecting shear.
