在海南省委、省政府、万宁市市委市政府及相关职能部门的大力支持下，大唐海南能源开发有限公司于2018年2月正式启动大唐万宁燃机工程发电项目，本项目于2018年11月17日在海南省发展与改革委员会完成备案，由大唐海南省科技有限公间和中海石油气电集团瀚海能源投资有限公司共同出资成立大唐万宁天然气发电有限责任公司，负责项目建设。
大唐万宁燃气电厂工积项目拟建设2台9F级燃气 --蒸汽联合循环发电机组，项目总投资 约25亿人民币。
