HYLYT SAVES YOU FROM YOURSELF

HYLYT limits individual clips to a maximum of 15 seconds. By stitching together a series of short clips as you capture them, HYLYT effectively "pre-edits" your movie before you even touch it. When you do choose to hand-edit your project, there is less fat and more meat.

MOTION-ACTIVATED MODES

HYLYT is built upon a patent-pending “Motion-actuated Interaction Model” — that’s fancy-talk meaning, “how you work with HYLYT depends on how you are holding HYLYT.”

CAPTURE • No matter what you are doing in HYLYT, just rotate your device counter-clockwise (that's to the left) and you are ready to start recording. No fiddling with modes and missing the moment -- and no "vertical video." HYLYT is multi-touch friendly -- you can choose "snap zooms" while recording and tap-to-focus for dramatic effects. Choose your preference: "hold to record" or "tap to record". There are even "square framelines" for videos destined for Instafame.

EDIT • Up-and-down (portrait) is where the fun is. Here, all of your projects and clips are presented in familiar list format. Drill down to see individual clip details such as trimming, fades, filters and more. Timelines are so “last year.”

PREVIEW • Just like "Capture Mode," simply rotate your device clockwise (that's to the right) and you can see a dynamic preview of your current project at any time. HYLYT keeps track of your position in the project so you can flick back and forth between "Edit" and "Preview Modes" and always be looking at the clip you want to make changes to.

SHARE • When you are ready, just export your HYLYT and a copy will be saved to both your Photo Library and to the HYLYT Theater. HYLYT is Airplay-ready so you can easily watch your HYLYTs on any compatible AppleTV and large display. And just like previewing an "in-progress" HYLYT, you can rotate clockwise in the Theater to present your finished HYLYT in full screen -- and you can even swipe left and right to skip between HYLYTs.

A FEW WORDS FROM ME...

Why HYLYT? Shooting video is a “high-friction” activity. Video takes intention. Video takes time. Video is not good at instant gratification. But it's not video's fault. It is the tools we use to handle the video-workload that are to blame. I wanted to lower the barrier to the magic of filmmaking. Traditional video-editing tools are great for pros, but overkill for the rest of us in our day-to-day lives. No one should have to spend hours editing footage of a child’s school recital or a friend’s birthday party. I wanted to create a program that incentivizes the user to avoid all the “bad habits” that lead to having to spend all that time “fixing” what you could have done right in the first place.

HYLYT is about enjoying the moment, while capturing the best of those moments. I hope you enjoy HYLYT. It is a labor of love hand-crafted by me for you.
