Help Mrs Teapot set the table for a tea party!

***********************

Created by Listening and Spoken Language Specialists in conjunction with Early Childhood Teachers, I’m a Little Teapot is a highly interactive learning experience. The app is full of wonderful educational ideas and animated interactive games to encourage the development of listening and language skills in young children. Families of children who have reduced hearing or language problems will find the app particularly useful.

I’m a Little Teapot has been designed as a cooperative app for parents and children so they can participate in a variety of shared activities together.

The app is divided into three sections:

1. Ideas
This section provides strategies and techniques, including instructional videos on how to use I’m a Little Teapot to develop listening and language skills. This is achieved through interactive play, craft, and ideas on how to sing the song differently. These ideas are grouped together depending on your child’s language level:
-Emerging language
-Putting words together
-Putting sentences together

2. Interactive games
There is a fully animated game with three levels. Each level targets different levels of listening and language skills. With help from mum or dad, your child can choose to play a level that either consolidates or extends their current listening and language abilities. The game is:
-Set the table
Help Mrs Teapot set the table for three tea party guests. Choose different coloured and patterned cups and saucers to set the table and pour the tea. The game introduces different colours (blue, red, yellow, green, pink, orange, brown, black, grey, purple) and shapes (circles, triangles, stars, hearts, stripes).

Each of the levels builds upon your child’s auditory memory.
- Level 1: 1 word descriptor, e.g. choose the blue saucer
- Level 2: 2 word descriptors, e.g. choose the blue saucer with stars
- Level 3: 3 word descriptors, e.g. choose the blue saucer with red stars

PLEASE NOTE: Games are not compatible with iPad VoiceOver screen reader.

3. Music and karaoke
Learn the lyrics to I’m a Little Teapot, alternative versions, and related songs. A karaoke style sing-a-long with music and lyrics is a great way to involve your child in singing.
