Begin your journey to more fulfilling, connected, and enjoyable sex with the Mindfulness and Sex app. In it you will find a range of practical exercises and meditations for both couples and individuals. Whether you are looking to learn how to deal with worry and self-criticism during sex, increase your sexual desire and libido, or to connect more with your partner, the Mindfulness and Sex app will help you to become more present in your sex life.

Mindfulness meditation has surged in popularity in recent years, proving to be a simple and effective means of increasing fulfilment and happiness and dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental and physical illnesses. Mindfulness is ideally suited for observing, deepening and greatly improving our sexual experiences. There is so much we miss out on when we are not mindful during sex. Without knowing it, we can become disconnected from the feelings and sensations that are available to us during sex – mindfulness can help us to re-engage, enriching our experience.

As Dr. Marsha Lucas (psychologist) states, “A key factor in having better sex is actually being there when you’re having it. Being there not just physically – being fully present,
in thought, word and deed. It isn’t about adding props or toys
or costumes – it’s about really showing up and tuning in to the moment, yourself and your partner”.
Mindfulness and Sex is based on the popular 2012 ebook by Dr Owen Spear, a Melbourne based Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in relationship therapy and mindfulness. Dr Spear has facilitated over 200 courses on mindfulness and helped many couples to improve their relationships and sex lives.

OVERVIEW
There are six sections in this app, each with their own guided audio mindfulness meditations and exercises

1. GET IN TOUCH WITH THE WORLD AROUND YOU
Busy lives lead us to become disconnected from our experience. In this section you will learn how to connect with different aspects of sex, including touch, sound, sight and smell.

2. MINDFULNESS AND THOUGHTS
Self-critical evaluations, worried thoughts and over-analysing situations can distract us from being in the moment, and prevent us from relaxing during sex. In this section you will learn how to deal with difficult thoughts.

3. MINDFULNESS AND YOUR BODY
Many people are not entirely comfortable with their bodies. In this section you will learn to accept your body as it is, and learn the value of curiosity and non-judgment. This chapter also explores how mindfulness can help with premature ejaculation, and teaches you some things you may not know about your genitals in a guided exploratory exercise.

4. WHEN MINDFULNESS “ISN’T WORKING”
Practising mindfulness can be as difficult as it is rewarding. In this section we will “troubleshoot” any problems you might be having with any of the techniques.

5. MINDFULNESS WITH YOUR PARTNER
Having learnt several techniques on your own, you will begin to involve your partner. This section focuses on interactive exercises, from talking, through to intercourse, and includes a section on how mindfulness can help to make you a better lover.

6. WHERE TO FROM HERE?
This section summarises the content from the book, and provides suggestions for how to keep up your mindfulness practise.

Note that this app is aimed at heterosexual couples. The mindfulness tools presented in this app are likely to help LGBTI couples as well, however we have begun work on a LGBTI friendly version of the app.
