ViDok is a free smartphone app for computing binding energy of a small molecule to a target macro-biological system (a protein, a DNA, or a complex of both) using cloud computing service. This helps to screen library of small molecules for potential drug candidates against a disease target. Currently, ViDok focuses on screening for drugs to cure Covid-19.

ViDok enables users to select a drug candidate from a given library of small molecules known to have some biological activity to test for its potential for curing a selected disease target. Currently ViDok provides only ONE disease target that is the main protease protein of the Covid-19 virus. Users then submit it to the cloud computing service to compute its binding energy to the selected disease target, namely its ability to block the activity of the biological functions of the target using the open-source AutoDock program running in the cloud.

The result once done will be presented to the user and ranked against all previous attempts. Users have the option of editing the structure of the ligand and resubmitting it. All results will be made freely available to the public. If the user would like to identify with his/her results in the public database then select the option to provide his/her name or nickname. This is not personal information, though providing such information is optional and is not required for using the app. Collecting and usage of such information are provided in the Privacy statements of ViDok App. Only metadata UUID generate by ViDok app is collected when the app is installed by the user. NO other user data such as health records or contacts are requested.

ViDok is developed by Prof. Thanh N. Truong from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah in collaboration with the Institute for Computational Science and Technology, Vietnam. The computational resources are provided by the Center for High-Performance Computing (CHPC) at the University of Utah. Public database of the docking results is also hosted by CHPC. The Advanced Mobile Applications for Science Education (AMASE.club) has the rights to operate and maintain ViDok.
