4K Video On The iPhone 7 Looks Downright Amazing

Who would have thought a smartphone could do this?
October 10, 2016

The iPhone has had 4K video recording since the iPhone 6s and with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus both having optical image stabilization and better lenses the quality of video that can be recorded is truly stunning.

YouTuber user, Ron8it, has posted two videos, one he’s calling the “iPhone 7 Plus Ultimate 4K Experience” and one he’s calling the “iPhone 7 Plus 4K Cinematic Experience.” The videos consists of various shots taken with the iPhone 7 Plus along with the Procam 4 app and a pre-production Olloclip 30x lens. and a pre-production Olloclip 30x lens.

Here’s how Ron8it describes it:

I traveled coast to coast in the span of 3 days and only used an iPhone 7 Plus to take every shot. I used the Procam 4 app and a pre-production Olloclip 30x lens attachment. I wasn’t that close to those bears. Also Attached the iPhone 7 Plus to a DJI Phantom 4 with a Hex4 Gimbal. No Color correction used. I just added a letterbox in post.

4K video is not the default option for recording on either the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, likely because of requires storage it needs when compared to 1080P video. That said, the quality of video coming out of a smartphone camera is truly mind blowing. Just a few years ago, I never would have thought we’d see this type of footage coming out of a smartphone. I can only imagine how much better it’s going to get with time.
