Do Encrypted Email the Right Way With Canary Mail
There are lots of secure email apps out there, but they typically just focus on the encryption itself. Little attention is given to making the app pleasurable to use, or adding features beyond email encryption. Canary Mail is different, in that it pays as much attention to aesthetics and other features as it does end-to-end encryption of your email.
Canary Mail fully supports OpenPGP email encryption in a gorgeous and full-featured way. You can search several key repositories for your contacts, or import their public keys through iTunes File Sharing. That's how you get your own public and private keys into Canary Mail, too.
On top of email encryption, Canary also supports instant read receipts, a snooze feature, and great filters for focusing on particular emails. My favorite, though, is the way you can tap the magic wand and then scroll through your email while the app automatically selects junk mail to delete.
The only "gotcha" with Canary Mail is that it uses icons that aren't really familiar to some email users. The red "X" is simple enough: it deletes the message. There's also a green check-mark, though, which might confuse some. That icon archives the message. The yellow clock snoozes the message, and the blue arrow is used to reply or forward. Easy enough to learn, even if they are a bit different.

Not only does Canary Mail offers great OpenPGP email encryption, but it's a pleasure to use. You can choose whether to sign and encrypt your email as you send it, assuming you have the recipient's public PGP key.
The unified inbox is gorgeous, and the filters work to make your email time more efficient and productive. The features I depend upon, like instant read receipts and the ability to snooze an email until later, are baked into the app, too. I've yet to find a secure email app as gorgeous and fully-functional as Canary.

You can get instant read receipts, delete bulk mail in bulk quickly and easily, and focus on the emails that are important to you. In short, Canary Mail is what iOS Mail should be.
