Earin M-2 Truly Wireless Earbuds Set to Take on Apple AirPods

The second-generation earbuds arrive before the end of March
January 3, 2017

Worried that Apple AirPods look like a pair of Q-tips in your ears? You might want to consider the upcoming Earin M-2 earbuds, officially announced this week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Available to retail before the end of March, the M-2 ships with a magnetic docking capsule that both stores and charges the earbuds. In doing so, it offers three hours of battery life on one charge and multiple additional charges for more than 12 hours of listening time.

Featuring proprietary technology developed by Earin, the M-2 includes a dual antenna and Near Field Magnetic Induction (MFMI). Like the M-1 before it, the M-2 includes a touch interface at the tip of the earbud to answer calls, play/pause music, and to skip songs.

According to Kiril Trajkovski, co- founder and president of Earin:

Our top-notch team of audio, electronic, mechanical and software engineers worked hand-in-hand with our in-house product and antenna designers to create a fashionable ‘ear’gonomic design and technology that addresses both wireless stability and audio quality.

In my mostly positive October 2016 review of the first-generation M-1 earbuds, I noted the frustrating process of fitting the buds into the charging capsule. I also explained the wonkiness of the Bluetooth connection between the earbuds and a mobile device.

Hopefully, the Earin M-2 earbuds have improved on both of these points.

We’ll know soon enough. Earin promises to ship the new earbuds before the end of the first quarter of 2017 at a price to be announced.

Meanwhile, you can still buy the M-1 earbuds through the Earin website and on Amazon.com.
