A Standalone Google Assistant App Could Soon Launch on iOS

May 15, 2017

Google could announce a new Google Assistant app for iOS as early as this week. The possible move was first announced by Android Police.

According to the report, the new standalone app could feature “a blend of the ‘chat’ style functionality in the Google Allo version of Assistant and the voice-controlled version found on Android, but again, details are scant.”

Android Police says the app could be unveiled at this week’s annual I/O Conference, which kicks off on Wednesday at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. At least initially, the app would only be available to iOS users in the United States.

Google Allo was first introduced on iOS in September 2016. Google Assistant is an intelligent personal assistant found on Android-based devices and the Google Home speaker.
