Ikea and Sonos Tease Mysterious Smart Home Collaboration
Ikea and Sonos are working together on something. Unfortunately, both companies have remained mum on what this collaboration could mean, although we have a few ideas.
On Wednesday, Ikea announced a collaboration with Sonos, the audio company. In a cryptic message, Ikea explains:
Sound is important in the home. Sound creates meaning and experiences, and it can enhance life at home instantly. Now IKEA is taking on sound in the home together with Sonos, and will explore how to make it even easier for people to play any song, anywhere in the home, without interrupting the flow of daily life. Enabling people to create the right atmosphere in their home with great design, music and sound.
So what could this collaboration mean?
Could future Ikea furniture have sound built-in or at least an easier way for folks to connect to devices such as the Sonos One?
Will the recently introduced Ikea Trådfri smart lighting products somehow connect to the Sonos One?
Is Sonos going to announce Ikea-branded audio products?
