iOS 11.1 Keyboard Bug

Apple Issues Temporary Fix to iOS 11.1 Keyboard Bug

Apple's Software
November 6, 2017

There’s a keyboard bug being experienced by some iOS device owners using iOS 11.1. Before it issues a permanent solution, Apple has offered a temporary fix to this annoying problem.

The issue occurs when you type the letter “i” on the standard iOS keyboard. Instead of seeing an “i” you’ll see the keyboard autocorrect to the letter “A” with a symbol.

Apple’s temporary solution is as follows:

  • Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.
  • Tap “+”.
  • For Phrase, type an upper-case “I”. For Shortcut, type a lower-case “i.”

Apple released iOS 11.1 on Oct. 31. The update brings new emoji to the platform, including Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person, Breastfeeding, Zombie, Person in Lotus Position, Sandwich, Coconut, and many others.

Last week, Cupertino released the first iOS 11.2 beta to developers.
