PGA Tour AR App Brings the Links to Your Home Using Apple ARKit

March 12, 2018

With the 2018 PGA Tour now in full swing, there's a new tool available for golf enthusiasts to celebrate the sport, players, and courses. PGA Tour AR takes advantage of the Apple ARKit to offer a unique 3-D experience.

PGA TOUR AR

The free augmented reality app visualizes PGA courses and holes directly on a flat surface in your home. In doing so, you can view individual holes and also see where players landed their drives during recent PGA Tour events. Better still you can compare shots from multiple players (up to four at a time) with ease.

At launch, the app’s AR catalog is somewhat sparse, although that’s expected to change over time.

As PGA Tour CMO Rick Anderson explained to TechCrunch, “AR gives you the ability to bring in the more three-dimensional aspects of a golf course that are hard to really understand when you’re just watching on television.”

Looking for something more? The PGA Tour AR app will include live AR coverage from the sixth hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational during the week of March 15, 2018.

The PGA Tour AR provides an interesting feature and we can't wait to see how it expands and improves throughout the year.

You can find the PGA Tour AR app in the App Store.
