You Can Now Pre-Order iOS Apps Up to 90 Days Before Release
Now you can pre-order iOS apps and games.
Apple is now allowing developers to offer new apps and games on the App Store up to 90 days before they’re released. The new titles download to a user’s device once they become available assuming automatic downloads have been enabled.
The new feature, which has long been available for Android developers, should make it easier for developers to promote new titles. Each app available for pre-order receives a limited product page and it shows up in the App Store search results. Additionally, pre-order titles are eligible for placement in the store’s Today, Games, or Apps tabs, if the app is featured.
You aren’t charged for pre-order titles until the day the app is released for download. Additionally, you’re always guaranteed the lowest price.
Pre-orders can be made for devices running iOS 11.2, tvOS 11.2, and macOS 10.13.2 or later.
