How to Bring the App Store Back to iTunes on Your Mac and PC
Want to reinstall the App Store on iTunes?
Back in September, Apple released iTunes 12.7, which removed the App Store from iTunes on Mac and PC. In a semi about-face, the company has quietly released a new iTunes version that brings the functionality back for those who want it.
As noted on a new Apple support page, iTunes 12.6.3 installation packages are now available for Mac and PC users. Though Apple says these versions are for businesses, anyone can download them.
They explain:
If you’ve already installed a newer version of iTunes, you can download this version of iTunes on your Mac, PC 32-bit or PC 64-bit* and run the installer. After installation is complete, you can continue to deploy apps with iTunes.
You won’t be prompted to download new versions of iTunes after you install this version. Learn how to update to the latest version of iTunes when you’re ready to upgrade manually.
Please note: Apple provides technical support only for the latest version of iTunes.
For those who need the App Store on their computer, this is great news. Whether Apple continues to release iTunes versions with the App Store is uncertain. There’s been no word from Apple whether this is a permanent or temporary solution.
