Schedule drives and get reminders with Waze
Are you a Wazer? If so, then you will be excited to hear about an update to the app today, March 16, bringing some cool new features. With Waze – GPS, Maps & Social Traffic, you can now add planned drives, receive reminders when you should leave, and more.
Plan your drives
Waze will sync with your calendar so that if you have location information for an appointment, this will pop up in your Planned Drives section. But, you can also add your own scheduled trips.
From your menu just select Planned Drives to see those you have saved and tap the plus icon to add a new one. Just type or say the destination.
Get your reminders
When it is time to leave for your planned drive, Waze will send you a friendly reminder. Based on current traffic conditions for your route, the app will let you know when you need to get on the move.
Other new features
Along with these amazing new options, Waze has a couple more for you. The traffic bar will now show the reason for the jam on your route if one is known. So, if there is an accident, for example, you will know that that’s what is causing the slow-down. In addition, Waze will now automatically mute when you receive an incoming call or place an outgoing one.

Waze is a pretty impressive app and the new features are terrific additions. You may plan to leave for an appointment based on how long it normally takes you. But, if there is a traffic incident or closure that will lengthen your average drive-time, it is beyond helpful to know that, right?
