Apple Set to Unveil Second-Generation 12.9-Inch iPad Pro?
The second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro could be coming soon.
If you’re in the market for a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, you might want to delay your purchase. It looks like Apple could launch a second-generation model in just a few weeks, according to AppleInsider.
Spot-checks at 20 Apple retail stores show that stock levels for the company’s largest tablet have been decreasing or are non-existent. Orders placed online now show a lead time of “2-3 weeks” for most products.
They note:
One Apple Store staffer we spoke with said that it had “been a while” since they had any 12.9-inch iPad shipments at all, and they had been without the 32-gigabyte Wi-Fi only model for “a few weeks, now.”
The first-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro was first announced in September 2015. It was released two months later. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro followed in March 2016. Last month, Apple introduced a new 9.7-inch tablet, simply called iPad.
Apple is expected to unveil an all-new 10.5-inch iPad model this fall that could include a new bezel-free design. With no such design change expected on either of the current iPad Pro models, it makes sense that we’ll see a refresh on the 12.9-inch model soon.
