Talks on a possible T-Mobile-Sprint merger are once again happening. The move comes five months after the latest round of talks ended between the No. 3 and No. 4 carriers in the United States, according to The Wall Street Journal.

According to a Tuesday report, the U.S. carriers are having “preliminary” talks to merge. They explain:

It is unclear what terms the two sides are considering, and it is possible, as before, that they could fail to reach an agreement. The latest discussions are at a preliminary stage, the people said.

Back in September, T-Mobile and Sprint started a second round of talks about a possible merger. Those talks eventuallybroke down over who would control the combined company.

As The Wall Street Journal notes, a merger between the two companies could prove difficult due to the current ownership at both firms. Germany’s Deutsche Telekom AG controls T-Mobile while Japan’s SoftBank Group owns nearly 85 percent of Sprint.
