Get Verified on Twitter

Anyone with a Twitter account can now fill out an online application to receive verification status. Previously, Twitter alone determined who would receive a blue checkmark next to their name.

Twitter usually verifies accounts after determining the user is “of public interest.” Traditionally, these have included musicians, actors, politicians, journalists, and sports figures.

Besides getting a blue checkmark, verified Twitter users get more privacy tools and may also opt the account out of group direct messages.

Japan is still waiting for Pokémon Go

Those in Pokémon’s home country will have to wait a little bit longer before gaining access to the popular Pokémon Go game. Previously, the game was expected to launch in Japan today, July 20.

As TechCrunch reports:

“One major reason for that change of heart is that internal communication from McDonalds Japan, the game’s sponsor, detailing the launch made its way to internet forums (including 2ch, “Japan’s Reddit”) and photo site Imgur.”

Despite the delay, Pokémon Go is expected to launch in Japan soon.
