There are many Bluetooth speakers on the market that cost quite a bit of money. Surely name recognition is built into the price of many of them. But if you’re willing to put aside brand name appeal, you can get a lot of sound for your money with 1byone’s Bluetooth Speaker.

When I received this speaker from 1byone for review, based on the size and price point, I wasn’t expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised, however.

As with most Bluetooth accessories, it’s easy to set it up with your iPhone or device of choice. There are five buttons on the side: phone, Bluetooth setup, previous track, play/pause, and next track. There is a tiny cover that hides a USB charging port and MicroSD slot. A charging cord comes with the device, but not a MicroSD card. The speaker has a 1400mA rechargeable battery. The company even claims that the speaker is waterproof for shower or poolside use. I did water test it by splashing some water on it, and it passed with flying colors. I did not fully submerge it, however.

You can receive phone calls by hitting the phone button and use it as a speaker. It does work, but it’s not a good solution.

The Bluetooth Speaker works even better than I expected. I can’t believe how high the volume goes; this speaker is so small. I love that it is so tiny and light. It’s easy to pop this speaker into your bag for portable tunes wherever you go. It comes with a carabiner clip so you can also hang it on your purse.

I’m not sure the tire aesthetic is my thing. To me, it looks like something that rolled off of a toddler’s toy monster truck. Other folks might like the look, of course. My daughter thinks it’s cool, and teens tend to be better arbiters of taste.

The door that covers up the slots for the charger and MicroSD card isn’t easy to open and fully close. It wouldn’t matter much, except for waterproofing.

As I mentioned above, the speakerphone feature works, but it isn’t spectacular.

Despite its minor flaws, the 1byone Bluetooth Speaker is an excellent bargain. You plenty of sounds and excellent features for a very small price. You can purchase it on Amazon in either Black or Camouflage for $19.99.
