This Summer, Explore Classic Literature with Serial Reader

June 29, 2017

There are hundreds of classic books we should read, but don't. They rarely show up prominently in our discount or book stores, and it's just too time-consuming to take them in. Right? Serial Reader strives to make reading the classics fun, easy, and gamified. It delivers short chunks of those books to your device, where you can read in time-efficient chunks of just 10 to 15 minutes at a time.

With more than 150 classic books to choose from, and short serials delivered to your iPhone or iPad daily, this app makes it hard not to rekindle a love of reading.

Summer, for many, is a time of relaxing and catching up on your reading. Apple's App Store has a whole collection of apps to help you with your summer reading plan, and Serial Reader is one of them.

The app features a very clean interface providing a nice reading experience. The options for adjustments to suit your needs, such as font size and type along with background contrast, are wonderful features. So, if you have always wanted to read a classic novel, but never feel like you have the time, this is the perfect app for reading one in daily bite-sized pieces.

The interface feels like most other eBook readers. You tap the side of the screen to turn pages, or swipe like you're turning the page of a real book. You can even change the font type and size, and the color of the page.

Serial Reader not only breaks the classics down into bite-sized chunks for you to enjoy each day, but it makes the whole reading process enjoyable.

For those who enjoy reading classic literature.

From “Pride and Prejudice” to “War and Peace,” it can often be difficult to find the time to sit down and read a classic novel. But, what if you could read just a small chunk each day during your lunch break or while on the train? Serial Reader – Classic Books in Daily Bits sends you an issue each day that you can read in less than 20 minutes.

The books are broken down into categories, like Adventure books and Fantasy titles. You'll find your usual genres, but Serial Reader refines them even more. There are categories dedicated to American literature, for example, as well as a category comprised of books by the Bronte sisters.

You're free to subscribe to more than one book at a time, and you receive daily issues of each one. If you decide you just can't wait until tomorrow to read ahead, a small in-app purchase supports the app as well as your desire not to have to put that wonderful book down.

When you subscribe to a book, you get the first issue immediately. While it varies from title to title, most issues can be read in less than 20 minutes. I found them taking me 10 to 15 minutes to read.

It's definitely nice being able to subscribe to more than one book at a time. If you are that type of reader, you could devote an hour or so per day to reading. Using Serial Reader, you could spend that time reading a little bit of four different books.

Serial Reader takes the pain out of reading. You won't be overwhelmed at the size of the book, because you'll only see a little bit of it at a time. Once again, you can always read ahead for a small in-app purchase.

You can also add books to a "Read Later" list, letting you queue up books to read after you finish the one or ones you're into.

Serial Reader is one of my favorite reading apps. It breaks large books into small pieces, letting me read just a little bit and gradually work my way through the book.
