FREE GAME “Curse of the Pharaohs “ (Free) by NIWAKASOFT is a puzzle game that is set in Egypt. There are 50 rooms, and each one requires you to solve a puzzle before you can move on to the next one. The puzzles are solved by using items in your inventory or how you interact with your iPhone. Regardless of how the puzzles are solved, the main thing is that each one is a unique challenge.

You have four items in your inventory. There’s a lighter, knife, magnifying glass, and flask of water. Unlike other escape games, you can’t combine these items to make them interact differently with their environment. You can only use one item at a time.

You also can solve these puzzles by how you interact with your iPhone. You can use swipe, tap, and drag gestures to interact with objects that are in the room. You can also tilt and shake your iPhone to bring new items onto the screen. When in doubt, tilt or shake your phone. That’ll usually reveal a new object that you can use.

Normally, these games have a hint section. This one doesn’t. Really, I wish I could tell you that there was even a section where you could buy hints through in-app purchases. Alas, the developers are very clear that they won’t be releasing any hints. So, an online walkthrough would be the next best thing, right? Well, the only ones that I could find were written instructions in a foreign language that I couldn’t identify. Basically, you’re on your own. Good luck.

I’ve always loved mummies and ancient Egypt. I freak my small kids out every time we go to the museum because I obsess over them. This puzzle game not only provided brain-teasing challenges, but it takes place in one of my favorite locations. How could it get any better? Well, you know, besides adding hints.
