Zombie Crane Defense (Free) by Chris Helterbrand is a castle defense game with a very odd base. Your goal is to try to protect a giant blender that the zombies are trying to destroy. Why would they want to eliminate a household appliance? This blender isn’t your average KitchenAid. It’s a giant industrial blender with a bowl conveniently big enough to contain zombies.
Part of your objective is to put zombies into this blender and tap on it. Those zombies become a disgusting purée. No wonder they have an intense hatred for this blender. Every time you slice, dice, and juice these zombies, you get blood points. These points can help you in a couple of different ways.
The first and most important thing that the blood points do for you is to help you win the level. There’s a blood meter at the bottoms of the screen, and when you blend a zombie, it fills the meter. When you completely fill up the meter, you win the level. The blood points that you earned by filling up the meter transfer to a blood bank where you can buy upgrades. I highly recommend winning the level by filling the meter.
Second, you can also use blood points for boosts during the level. There are different items like land mines, oil barrels, and explosive barrels to help you fight back the waves of zombies. Personally, I didn’t need them, but some people love to use boosts.
So, you need to get these zombies into the blender so that you can get blood points. How will you get them in there? Well, luckily, there’s this handy claw that you can control. You can choose to grab a zombie and drop him in the blender, or you can choose to drop the claw and smash a couple of zombies.
There are explosive barrels that run on a claw rail in the back. You can grab these barrels and explode the zombies that are attacking the blender. When the blender runs out of health, it’s game over.
The zombies come in waves. You can choose to end the level early by filling the blood meter, or you can use the explosive barrels and survive all the waves. Both strategies will yhelp you to win the game.
There are ads in the game. The pop up after you win a level, and they run along the top as banner ads in the menus. They’re not present during gameplay.
I love the creativity in this app. The music is awesome, and I think it’s great that there are two different ways to win the game. The claw is definitely a unique weapon, and I’m disturbed enough to enjoy juicing zombies in an industrial blender. This game is a must-have for zombie game lovers.
