The new 2048 Pro is the be-all, end-all of its kind
2048™ Pro (Free) by Chen Ge is a new twist on a number puzzle app that encompasses many versions of the already-popular game. With customizable dimensions, color schemes, and gameplay modes, you won’t be able to stop playing.
Many of our readers are probably already familiar with the original 2048. The game is simple to learn, but takes dedication to beat. Unlike other popular iOS puzzle games such as Letris and Candy Crush Saga, this is all about math and numbers. You start out with a 4-by-4 tile box, with two number tiles in it. You can slide the tiles in any direction to combine like multiples of two. Every move you make, another tile, either a four or a two, will randomly appear on the grid. The object is to keep combining doubles until you reach 2048.Have you ever played your typical 2048 game, but gotten bored of the same old 4-by-4 tile box? Now’s your chance to try it with 3-by-3 and 5-by-5 tiles. The 3-by-3 option is challenging because the grid fills up so quickly, making winning much more challenging. The 5-by-5 also brings its own challenges. With a bigger grid, it’s harder to keep track of all of the number tiles.Surely, you’ve also wanted to try the game with different rules of play. Instead of combining twos to get to 2048, now you can do the same with threes and Fibonacci numbers. It’s trickier than it sounds. In order to play the former way, you have to combine three tiles at once to get to the next multiple. In order to play the latter way, you must combine a 2 and a 3, a 3 with a 5, a 5 with an 8, and so on.Graphics and aesthetics also tend to be a concern for app users, which is valid. So if you’re sick of looking at varying shades of orange, I have got good news for you. The game features three different color schemes. The first is the original, which some people may like, some may not. There’s also one called Vibrant, which features bright, citrusy colors. The third option, called Joyous, features muted shades of blues, greens, and purples. So, the question is, why pay to download a game that has so many free versions? The answer is simple. This app is the single most all-inclusive version of 2048 I’ve ever seen. It saved me tons of room on the home screen, as well as storage space on the hard drive. The reason for this is that I didn’t have to download a million different versions of the same game. It may not be free, but it’s undoubtedly worth it to me because I can avoid deleting my other precious apps.
Normally, this app will cost you $0.99. But if you hurry, you can still get 2048 Pro for free, for iPhone on the App Store.
