Facebook Messenger Client Available For Windows: Where's The Mac Version?

If you don’t have enough social networking in your life, the standalone Facebook Messenger client is now available for Windows.
Some of the more interesting features of the standalone client include an interactive news ticker and notification inbox to keep up to date on what your friends are liking every second. And in the end, that’s what Facebook is hoping to do with the client - get even more engagement from its users.
Missing on the new client are video chat through Skype and group chat, both of which can be done on the Web version of the Facebook site.
But the new software puts the desktop version in the same league as already-released standalone Facebook Messenger versions for mobile phone platforms like iOS, Blackberry, Android and Windows Phone. Personally, it looks like Facebook has spent more time on its mobile versions, especially the well-designed and useful iOS client. The Windows version looks a little thrown together and not well thought out. While instant messaging is popular on the desktop, I would rather use an all-in-one IM client that includes Facebook chat along with my other accounts on my PC.
If you’re ready to download the Mac client, hold on. Facebook promised a Mac version, but had no timeframe on when it will appear. Hopefully, it will be faster than Facebook for iPad.
Windows XP and Vista users are also out of luck as the client is only available for Windows 7 users.
It also doesn’t look like there are any ads on the client, yet. But if Facebook’s plans for its mobile clients are any indication, there should be ads in the middle of your chat sessions sooner rather than later.
